La finalidad de los proyectos Leonardo, es experimentar con nuevas formas de aprendizaje en las que se tenga principalmente en cuenta la cooperaci&#243;n internacional, la utilizaci&#243;n de las nuevas tecnolog&#237;as, el mejoramiento de la presentaci&#243;n y calidad de la formaci&#243;n, los m&#233;todos pedag&#243;gicos dirigidos a la integraci&#243;n en la sociedad del conocimiento en la que van a vivir nuestros actuales escolares y la transferencia de buenas pr&#225;cticas a otros sectores y &#225;reas de los resultados obtenidos.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;En nuestro caso, el consorcio est&#225; formado por tres instituciones, (una en cada uno de los pa&#237;ses de Espa&#241;a, Grecia y Turqu&#237;a), con el objetivo de desarrollar el proyecto DEAN &#171;Digital Edition, Apprenticeship and Network,&#187; consistente en la experimentaci&#243;n de m&#233;todos de aprendizaje en red para adquirir las t&#233;cnicas de digitalizaci&#243;n de textos y de edici&#243;n electr&#243;nica con vistas a conocer c&#243;mo se hacen las bibliotecas digitales.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;En cada uno de los pa&#237;ses mencionados colaboran otras instituciones que son las beneficiarias de la experimentaci&#243;n realizada. De esta manera se construye una red internacional que permite estudiar la forma de trabajar cooperativamente en un &#225;mbito europeo para alcanzar un objetivo com&#250;n.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;El consorcio DEAN, lo conforman tres nodos internacionales: &lt;strong class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Aldesoc, Madrid, Espa&#241;a&lt;/strong&gt;; &lt;strong class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Union of scientists and informatics of Viotia, Levadia; Grecia&lt;/strong&gt;; y &lt;strong class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turqu&#237;a&lt;/strong&gt;. Y los nodos asociados colaboradores siguientes: en Espa&#241;a los IES's Avda de los Toreros y Marqu&#233;s de Suanzes; en Grecia los nodos asociados son: 4&#186; Gymnasium de Levadia y el Centro docente de Estonia; y en Turqu&#237;a los nodos son: Grupo de estudiantes universitarios de Izmir y dos sub-nodos que son los centros docentes coordinados por Simge Akpulluk&#231;u y Efe Gl&#252;&#231;&#252;er.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Adem&#225;s, en su momento Aldesoc entr&#243; en contacto con dos posibles nodos colaboradores en Colombia: IES Santa Isabel de Hungr&#237;a y Proyecto Poeta patrocinados por la importante Fundaci&#243;n Carvajal, sita en Cali. Desafortunadamente no fue posible avanzar en esta integraci&#243;n, pero esperamos que en un futuro pr&#243;ximo iniciativas extra-comunitarias puedan integrarse en proyectos europeos, como se posibilita en los Leonardo.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Despu&#233;s de establecida esta estructura de cooperaci&#243;n transnacional, propusimos como materia del proyecto la elaboraci&#243;n de un producto inmaterial que subrayara la importancia del conocimiento &#171;elemento b&#225;sico de la nueva sociedad&#187;, se utilizaran las nuevas tecnolog&#237;as de la informaci&#243;n, y se reflexionara sobre el impacto social de esta actividad en la formaci&#243;n de la nueva sociedad emergente. En nuestro caso el producto inmaterial propuesto, fue la elaboraci&#243;n de una biblioteca digital piloto.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Pero no se trataba solo de la obtenci&#243;n de un producto, sino principalmente de experimentar con una pedagog&#237;a apoyada en dos conceptos: &#171;aprender haciendo&#187; y &#171;aprender cooperativamente&#187;.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;En el primer concepto, aprender haciendo, interesa observar c&#243;mo el hecho de fijar un objetivo, y obtener un producto, aumenta el inter&#233;s y la motivaci&#243;n de los estudiantes al percibir la finalidad de su esfuerzo y tambi&#233;n observar c&#243;mo se aprende a integrar la practica con la teor&#237;a en la formaci&#243;n de conocimiento.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;En el segundo concepto, aprender cooperativamente, interesa observar c&#243;mo el aprendizaje puede altamente reforzarse cuando se trabaja en grupo, en equipo, en el que cada uno ayuda a los otros a hacer su tarea, y c&#243;mo la colaboraci&#243;n en un ambiente amable puede ser mas eficaz que la competencia que significa lucha y aislamiento.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Conceptos que aplicamos a la elaboraci&#243;n de la propuesta biblioteca digital piloto, atendiendo a los siguientes puntos:&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Contestar a las preguntas &#191;Qu&#233; es una biblioteca digital? &#191;Qu&#233; libros seleccionar? &#191;Cual es su uso social?. Estudiar las t&#233;cnicas a utilizar relativas a la captura de im&#225;genes, digitalizaci&#243;n, de edici&#243;n digital, descripci&#243;n c&#225;talogr&#225;fica; Estudiar y hacer la integraci&#243;n de los libros digitales en la biblioteca digital, y de los m&#233;todos de b&#250;squeda. Tambi&#233;n para permitir la cooperaci&#243;n educativa, local e internacional, hab&#237;a que conocer las t&#233;cnicas para la formaci&#243;n de redes de comunicaci&#243;n digital, as&#237; como los medios inform&#225;ticos (hardware y software) necesarios para llevar a efecto el proyecto. Adem&#225;s se planteo la necesidad de reforzar el estudio del ingles como lenguaje com&#250;n de comunicaci&#243;n.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Aunque en la pr&#243;xima sesi&#243;n informaremos de nuestras tareas a lo largo de los dos a&#241;os, anticiparemos ahora algunos resultados y conclusiones.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;El resultado material de la experiencia llevada a cabo con el proyecto DEAN ha sido la construcci&#243;n de una biblioteca digital piloto, pero el resultado pedag&#243;gico del proyecto, nos ha permitido observar la idoneidad de un aprendizaje centrado en el alumno y en la cooperaci&#243;n entre ellos, y la eficacia de esta forma de aprender y de educaci&#243;n que desempe&#241;ar&#225; un importante rol en la cambiante sociedad en la que han de vivir nuestros escolares.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Esta experiencia ha mostrado c&#243;mo con la estructura de red de cooperaci&#243;n educativa y con la metodolog&#237;a de &#8220;aprender haciendo&#8221; los aprendices han adquirido destrezas y habilidades que han provocado un revulsivo en su manera de acercarse al conocimiento, y en la autoestima y revalorizaci&#243;n de s&#237; mismos adoptando una actitud de confianza y de coraje; han comprobado que ellos mismos son los due&#241;os de lo que aprenden,&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Tambi&#233;n se ha observado c&#243;mo gracias al desarrollado de un esp&#237;ritu cooperativo y solidario, los aprendices han vencido el temor a cometer errores y a preguntar lo que no saben para superarlos y que el trabajo cooperativo y compartido, hecho en com&#250;n, forme parte de su propio conocimiento, y que el trabajo de cada uno sea valorado y estimado por los otros.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;No debemos olvidar en todo esto la importancia de las Tecnolog&#237;as de la Informaci&#243;n. Gracias a ellas ha sido posible formar e integrar la red DEAN, se han podido utilizar la computadora como herramienta poderosa para el aprendizaje y para la construcci&#243;n de las redes telem&#225;ticas, as&#237; como a contar con eficientes programas inform&#225;ticos, de f&#225;cil aprendizaje, que facilitan salvar las diferencias de niveles de equiparaci&#243;n entre los distintas procedencias y bagaje educativo de los aprendices, lo que no hubiera sido posible sin la ayuda del ordenador. Esto significa darle un mayor capacidad de empoderamiento a los aprendices.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;La experiencia con el proyecto DEAN ha mostrado igualmente que los profesores y administradores de la educaci&#243;n, a&#250;n no llegan a percibir toda la importancia de lo que suponen las nuevas tecnolog&#237;as para facilitar el aprendizaje y para acceder al conocimiento. Y esto se observa cuando muy a menudo encontramos que el ordenador es utilizado para conducir al aprendiz paso a paso a trav&#233;s del proceso de aprendizaje.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;La presencia del profesor en esta nueva era de aprendizaje va a ser, tal vez, mucho mas importante que antes. Pero la importancia del papel del profesor, creemos, ser&#225; muy diferente al actual, pasando de ejercer una ense&#241;anza pasiva, a convertirse en un dinamizador que motive al aprendizaje activo, que facilite el acceso a la informaci&#243;n, y con ello se incremente el inter&#233;s y el entusiasmo por el conocimiento cient&#237;fico y art&#237;stico. Y este punto &#225;lgido, el dilema, entre los distintos tipos de teor&#237;as sobre educaci&#243;n: empoderamiento y la libertad del escolar contra la r&#237;gida instrucci&#243;n y el rol pasivo de ser instruido, lo ir&#225; resolviendo el empleo de nuevos m&#233;todos pedag&#243;gicos apoyados y facilitados por la tecnolog&#237;a de la informaci&#243;n.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Como dec&#237;a el pedagogo americano Dewey: &lt;strong class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;La educaci&#243;n no est&#225; en ense&#241;ar a vivir el futuro sino en vivir el futuro&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

Particularly, I would like to welcome some young members, present today, apprentices of DEAN project, who are participating for their first time in an international meeting and in an European project as well. I'm sure their freshness and naivety will endorse the effectiveness of this meeting. DEAN, Digital Edition and Apprenticeship Network is an European Union LLP-LdV funded project which aims to create a cooperative learning network in order to build up a digital library with the help of ICT tools. In the project, a digital book database is developed for use as support to learn by doing and network training.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;&lt;i class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Cooperative learning network&lt;/i&gt; is the mainstream of modern Education in current emerging society. The rationale for cooperative educative network is a methodology based on the mathematical structure of nodes and networks applicable to teach and learn. Teaching and learning are thus reciprocal. Thus cooperative learning, is not just a mere methodology to apply in Education but an experimental methodology in a broaden sense applicable to all fields of society. I regard education as crucial. In the first place because education is the space where trainers, trainees, educators, parents, teachers, stakeholders, civil society converge, and in the second place to set education in the realm of novel human thinking, understanding and freedom for the knowledge society.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Cooperative learning is an apprenticeship structure, but our methodology of learning by doing needs, not only a structure, but also a goal to achieve and to learn how to do the necessary tasks to reach that goal. Learning by doing in Cooperative network seeks for implementation and completion. The cooperative learning networking was shaped into the structure of an apprenticeship networking: 3 initial nodes was created at the beginning and called Dean Group (Spain, Greece and Turkey). Dean group will have other nodes connected to it. These were called associated nodes. Dean group achieved to form associated nodes. Each associated node had a coordinator and one monitor. As a result a collection of digitised books from 4 areas of the education field (theoretical and philosophical issues, methodologies, techniques and European policies) and added to other digitised books taken from existing digital libraries and collected by the associated nodes. The trend of the project towards the digital library drew the bigger efforts and interest on the part of the participants and have biased them against the cooperative learning networking. We even don't know how long it will last. It's touching and critical in all aspects of life. We doubt whether we're attending the end of an era, or facing something new, a new renaissance, a new era in history of mankind. We all agree by now that new technologies of communication and information have burst onto the economical, social, cultural, educational and labour world stage raising uncertainty, instability and distress but also a blow of HOPE and FREEDOM. Likewise we're aware this novel situation has arisen a voracious appetite for wealth on the side of the richest, and hunger, misery and desperation on the side of the poorest. This iniquity is leaving a gap between rich and poor which has become unsustainable though.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;We stare at two ways: a descent into barbarism or a step forward in a new global social order. We should then choose. Never before than today's the conviction on the fact that only education will help us to overcome today's fated situation prevails. The quoted words, in 1931, from a well known scientist and epistemologist Jean Piaget are wit and sensible &#8220;Only education will likely be able to safeguard our societies from violent or sudden dissolution&#8221;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;&lt;strong class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;An appeal to vision&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;&#8220;What's common to all education systems is the child or learner himself or at least some characteristics of his psychology&#8221; Jean Piaget says.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Once we were children and adolescents. We had dreams. Further more at age of 4 we use to build our own world and live in it as an extension of the real one. We felt happy and unique. When we grew up and became adults we ceased to dream, and we became &#8220;real-istic&#8221;, conformist and socially and politically adapted to established social conditions. We accepted what we were given without inquiries or claims. Our dream for happiness had swept away.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Maybe you might be thinking why I'm telling all this. It's because within a critical situation as today's we should appeal to education for repair damage and wrong. We agree things are not right as they are. Learning conditions are inadequate. Environmental and educational learning &amp;training conditions are currently wrong. We feel defeated and unhappy. Our trainees and students likewise.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;There's an empty. There's a Need. As I mentioned education is relevant for our future. Education is moving to the centre stage of intellectual interests, research and study and political arena. New technologies have made it possible. The quoted words from Papert sound appropriated.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;&#171;The approach of 21st century has brought lots of pronouncements on the fact that Information society both requires and makes possible new forms of education. We agree totally with this. But when these pronouncements are tardy in translating them into reality it's often ascribed to a lack of money, technology, or teachers training. Actually there's a need for all these. But the prior lack is a shortage of courage, coherent, inspiring and yet realistic visions of what education could be like 10 or 20 years from now .&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;No one dares to talk about the future or if one does we're compelled to think of the present .Vision is not&#8221; a blue print but a compelling view of &#8220;look and feel&#8221; of the future-its needs, its opportunities and how we can prepare ourselves to act on them. Vision allows us to look beyond the problems that beset us, giving way to our passage into the future. Even more vision energizes this passage inspiring and guiding us into action.
Envisioning the future drives us away from wasting resources vainly on trying to use new technologies to solve the problems of school-as it-is, instead of seeking radically new opportunities to develop school &#8211;as-it-can-be. The future is to match needs and opportunities -Papert&#187;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;Technologies burst onto the societal scenery&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;&#171;New technologies propelled societies into action. Vision is a driving force.. Better test scores, Internet, computers in the classroom , more trained teachers. All these are fine and always useful things, of course. But these visions aren't of the same stuff as Martin Luther King's &#171;I have a dream&#187;, Albert Einstein's intuition for his intuition on time and space which led to the invention of relativity theory&#8221;, Henry Ford's vision of a car everyone could afford to own.&#187; &#171;
These are visions that inspired people to perform great deeds.
Vision is the key of how policy makers and educators can participate in forging an education to match needs and opportunities of the new century&#187;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class=&quot;spip&quot;&gt;&#171;But vision is also the key to what this education should be. The primary commitment of education should be about vision.
